Lal Chowk – Flag hoisting drama by BJP
January 26, 2011Well, we all know that the drama of flag hoisting at Lal Chowk (Srinagar) was nothing but another attempt to create Bawri Masjid II. Probably no one saw it like this. If BJP would have been able to gather mass support which it got on December 6, 1992 BJP would recreated the same history and would have changed the Indian politics once again. Luckily it wasn’t meant to be and the country was saved witnessing mass killings like 1992.
But the big question ?
Well what was wrong in BJP’s demand to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk or any part of India (apart from the BJP’s motive)? Keep aside all the pre-independence issues, if in 60 years we were unable to make such a small population part of India, it is really mind boggling and a matter of concern. Has government done anything to make Kashmiris a part of main stream India. Indian government had been a big advocate of reservation in education and jobs but had they really used it wisely. Why is there no reservation in other states for Kashmiris (or people for any such state which has not been able to develop)? When there was a will we have always found a way. Remember Punjab? It looks like as if it has been ages when militancy was there. But it happened only when there was a political will. Congress has been playing the same game which it is good at. Congress is just dangling the carrot of separate Kashmir (without mentioning it) to the Kashmiris which everyone knows that won’t ever happen. But by maintaining a state of silence, excluding J&K from applicability of any of the laws applicable to other parts of the country ……Congress will end up creating another Punjab or rather Sri Lanka which our future generations will regret.
